2500 Hours of Love is a
Call to Action
September 2021 – May 2022
What’s it all about?
In celebration of Rev. Deborah Cayer’s 25 years of ministry, the ERUUF Board of Trustees has charged our fellowship to contribute 2500 hours of racial equity and racial justice service work in the community beyond ERUUF’s walls between September 2021 and May 2022.
2500 Hours of Love is a robust project focused on community engagement while building relationships in support of the critical need for racial equity and racial justice.
Origins of the Project
2500 Hours of Love is a gift of service, our way to acknowledge Rev. Cayer’s legacy and steadfast commitment to racial justice.
It is also a powerful effort to illuminate ERUUF minds, hearts, and strength as we take on the challenge and deliver the work.
Yes! We can do this!
It’s About Racial Equity, Justice, and Liberation
The term Racial Equity refers to the societal condition in which the distribution of resources, opportunities, and how one fares isn’t determined by race or racial bias.
Racial Equity is one part of Racial Justice, and so we also include work to address root causes of inequities, not just their manifestation. This includes elimination of policies, practices, attitudes, and cultural messages that reinforce differential outcomes by race or fail to eliminate them. Source: racialequitytools.org
The GOAL is liberation. Reaching liberation is a lifelong challenge for all of us and it can only be done through collective work.
The 2500 Hours initiative at ERUUF is the beginning of an ongoing effort to support work that has Racial Equity and Racial Justice as its lens and focus.

Let’s do this!
What Can ERUUFians Do To Reach This Goal?
We can work on many different projects related to racial equity and racial justice:
- volunteer with literacy programs
- advocate for restorative justice
- support health initiatives
- demand voting access for all
Our vision is that 2500 Hours of Love will encourage partnerships and engagement beyond our regular routines, and that we will evolve and grow individually and collectively.
The opportunities to participate are wide-ranging.
